Filling out a page
We had a whole week of unusually large newspapers (hooray increased ad sales!) so we were kind of scrambling for content all week to fill out the news holes. Often the Politico site is full of short stories and different kinds of lists (top 5, top 10, etc.)
Here, I used one of these lists — it happened to be quotes — to create a different type of page. We’ve used the quote bubbles before. I had to figure out how to squeeze them all onto the page and make room for the cutout. I think it ended up working well. Plus it helped us solve the problem of filling pages!
