👋 Hi! I'm Michelle Bloom.
I'm a visual journalist with a passion for colors, patterns, and telling a story.
I'm formally trained in magazine journalism with an emphasis on feature writing and have spent my entire career in newsrooms. My passion lives in bringing a visual identity to newsrooms. In 2019, I completed the Knight-Wallace fellowship at the University of Michigan where I studied innovative ways to approach visual storytelling on social media.
I focus on telling stories in engaging ways on social media. I experiment with visual design to engage with readers and tell journalistic stories. I also focus on brand building and identity across platforms. I have extensive experience producing a daily publication (newspaper) and also design and art direct for the web and magazine.
Creativity is a passion. You can follow my creative endeavors on my Instagram. Each year I participate in #the100dayproject. My latest project, dubbed #mjbcreates2020 was an experiment in spending at least 30 minutes each day just creating across a variety of mediums.
My resume is below and here's a link to my LInkedIn profile.
I'm available for freelance work and to discuss exciting, new opportunities. My ideal job would be one where I can engage with readers and push the boundaries of visual storytelling. Want to get in touch with me? Fill out the form below 👇
